Healing The Wounded Heart, Vietnam

:
Healing The Wounded Heart, Vietnam HWH is a humanitarian aid project founded in 2003 by SPIRAL Foundation, in cooperation with the Office of Genetic Counseling and Disabled Children OGCDC, Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy.
HWH items are created by a small group of disabled artisans [most of us are hearing impaired] using discarded materials such as plastic, food wrappers, tires, soda cans, discarted textiles... By recycling they are contributing to the common good cleaning the environment and using discarted materials to transform them in precious gifts.
Healing the Wounded Heart is a simple idea of great social utility: it clears the streets of discarded plastics,  it recycles scrap materials while generating work, facilitating opportunities for disabled artisans to regain dignity [“the state or quality of being worthy of honour or respect.”]. Participants are themselves empowered to become donors to others in greater need: every month Healing the Wounded Heart artisans donate part of their income to help fund a heart surgery in the Hue province via OGCDC.
